What is the most common attention deficit disorder symptom? There are many symptoms that can lead to a diagnosis of ADD or ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder) and many of these are used to diagnose other conditions as well which makes diagnosis challenging.

How can you tell if you or a loved one has ADD? Obviously, the final diagnosis comes after an evaluation by a skilled professional, but the hallmarks of ADD/ADHD include similar childhood symptoms and persistent adult symptoms that interfere with work and relationships, all throughout life:

If a child has ADD/ADHD, even if he/she is officially diagnosed, he/she is at risk for having ADD/ADHD as an adult. A child with ADD/ADHD usually demonstrates symptoms of not being able to sit still, listen or follow directions, no matter how clearly they are presented. He/she may constantly fidget and tend to blurt out inappropriate comments at inappropriate times. Or he/she may just appear to always be “spaced out” or daydreaming (more common in girls than in boys with ADD).

In adults, the difficulty of being able to concentrate and organize becomes more prevalant than in children. Adults with ADD/ADHD have an extremely hard time concentrating. They can’t follow conversations and continue to unintentionally zone in and out. Finishing tasks might feel impossible, although they may have started many. ADD causes adults to get very easily distracted or forgetful, which then leads to errors or incomplete work.

Another attention deficit disorder symptom affects organization. Keeping things in place both at home and work could be an enormous challenge for someone who suffers from ADD. So, they are usually viewed as just being overly messy.

In children, hyperactivity, another symptom of ADD, can be pretty obvious to identify – a hyperactive child may bounce around a lot and never sit still, even when seated. But in adults, hyperactivity manifests itself differently. Often adults with ADD get easily bored, irritated and experience mood swings. They tend to be restless and full of nervous energy and just unable to relax, making quiet activities seemingly impossible. Some also feel the need to talk continuously.

Another symptom is trouble controlling impulses. In children with ADD, impulsitivity is seen when they blurt out answers or constantly interrupt others’ conversations or activities. An adult with ADD might have a hard time managing finances due to their impulsive purchases. Impulsitivity also affects decision-making. Someone with ADD might have a pattern of making sudden decisions ‘on a whim’ or have trouble listening to others.

If someone with ADD/ADHD remains untreated, the disorder can disrupt everything from his/her career to relationships, health and financial stability. While most of us sometimes have challenges in these areas, the persistent chaos and disorganization of ADD/ADHD can make managing the problems worse and worse.

While much is still being learned about ADD/ADHD and how to tackle one attention deficit disorder symptom at a time, we see that there are also positive traits associated with this condition. Impulsivity, boundless energy and the tendency to switch tracks constantly may turn into creativity, flexibility, the ability to rapidly adapt to new information or tremendous drive and commitment.

If you have any issues with your skin, you have probably considered consulting a dermatologist. They are supposed to be experts in their field and with the right advice you could notice a huge improvement. But when seeing a dermatologist, skin care recommended by them can be expensive.

Does that mean the products are better than those that are on the high street or in your local drug store? Well sometimes yes it does but often you are paying money for the fancy packaging and the pretty bottle.

To me, if the recommended range is having a marked impact on your skin then it is worth every penny. Why mess around with cheaper products if there is a risk that they are going to adversely affect your appearance? But if you are just buying an image then it is not worthwhile.

In the 80′s and 90′s there was a huge trend towards invasive skin care. Botox, face lifts, lip pumping etc were on the shopping list of all women who could afford these treatments and many who couldn’t but put the bill on their credit cards. Some doctors and therapists recommended these immediate fix options rather than reviewing why your skin was in the state it was.

Now, and perhaps we have the recent credit crunch to thank, people are becoming slightly less anxious to put their bodies through potentially severe surgical routines. More people are searching for a holistic treatment and their skin care choices reflect this.

Botox for example was once hailed as the only solution for wrinkles. You heard very little about the fact that it is only a temporary fix and the procedure itself carries long term risks. For example, many patients suffer severe bruising. We have all seen the models and TV personalities who can no longer blink properly or else have that completely un-natural “rabbit in the headlights” look.

Pick up a tabloid newspaper and at least once a week you will see what a mess a certain celebrity has made of her face at the hands of a cosmetic expert.

You need to review your skin care regime and look at certain key areas.

1) Your diet so your skin can be nourished from the inside out.

2) Ensure you are getting regular exercise but not overdoing it.

3) You need to look after your sleep – it is the time when your skin repairs and rejuvenates

4) You need to keep stress levels under control. Worry and frown lines do not a pretty woman make.

5) You need to pamper yourself. Ok, we probably can’t all afford to go to a spa every week but we should try and do it at least every couple of months. We deserve it – you know we do.

We need to have belief in ourselves. If you do not believe that you are beautiful it doesn’t really matter what you look like. Self confidence and a certain joy de vivre will do more for the cosmetic look of your skin than applying lots of dermatologist skin care products.

How Do You Relieve Sore Muscles

It might sound weird to say, but I like it when my muscles get a little sore after a workout, it lets me know I’ve worked my muscles enough to build strength. But if you want to know how do you relieve sore muscles, there are some easy things you can do.

Many people think that they should do a deep stretch before they exercise. The truth is that if you stretch too deeply while your muscles are tight you can actually do more harm than good.

You can tear muscle fiber which will take a long time to repair and you will miss a lot of workout while you are recovering.

You can sprain or strain, no they’re not the same, and be more susceptible to muscle pulls.

You don’t want to stop exercising while you wait to repair the damage done by incorrect stretching.

While stretching is good for you, it only works well when your muscles are already loose and warm.

To maximize the effectiveness of stretching do very light warm up moves before you workout and leave the deeper stretches until after you’re done.

No matter how much stretching you do it’s important to understand that the soreness you feel is from the micro tears you get in your muscles from working them.

When your muscles repair themselves this is how you build them up and make them stronger, and bigger. From that point of view a little soreness is actually a good thing.

Ease into any new exercise program. One mistake I’ve made, is to think that just because I work out and I’m fit I can jump into any type of physical activity. Wrong. Different activities use different muscles in different ways, so anytime you take on something new, you’ll probably have some muscle pain.

When you do have sore muscles try to get some light exercise in while you are ‘recovering’. Something simple like going for a walk, or a easy bike ride. You want to keep your body moving and loose without putting more strain on your already strained muscles.

Initial treatment for these kinds of injuries should consist of icing the affected area for 15 to 20 minutes every hour for the first 24 hours.

Then apply heat to the affected area again for 15 to 20 minutes every hour. Soaking in a hot tub can also help loosen your sore muscles.

Another relaxing and effective way to relieve the pain of sore muscles is to get a light massage. This will help by increasing blood flow to the affected areas which will effectively warm the muscles and begin to get rid of the built up lactic acid…it’s this buildup that makes your muscles sore to begin with.

There are also many over the counter creams and ointments that you can apply to help loosen up your muscles and speed up the recovery time.

Follow these simple tips on how do you relieve sore muscles and you’ll enjoy all your physical activities more as well as enjoying your physical appearance more!

Vitamins To Relieve Menopause Symptoms

Even though all women know that someday they will have to deal with menopause symptoms at some point in their lives, the reality of menopause can be so severe that they can knock even the strongest, most fit woman off balance.

We’ve all heard of things like hot flashes, and night sweats, decreased sex drive, and many other very negative side affects. But the shear intensity of the actual symptoms can have an enormous impact on your everyday life.

Not being able to sleep night after night, while you are still expected to perform all your normal daily obligations can take a huge toll on your health, both mentally and physically.

While finding effective menopause relief can be very hard to do, it’s not impossible. There are a lot of things you can do to help lessen your symptoms. It’s often a matter of trial and error, some things will work for some people and not for others so you may have to try several different products before you find something that will give you the relief you need.

It’s important to remember that you do have options in dealing with symptoms and that there are vitamins to relieve menopause symptoms.

Today most doctors are staying away from prescribing Hormone Replacement Therapy for their patients due to the dangerous side effects that these drugs can have. There have been many studies to show an increased risk of breast cancer with the use of HRT so many doctors are very reluctant to prescribe it for their patients. Instead more emphasis is placed on natural menopause remedies.

The effectiveness of these remedies will vary greatly from one woman to the next, but if you’re a woman suffering from hot flashes, mood swings, vaginal dryness, or irritability, you’ll be willing to try just about anything to find relief.

Many women have found relief of their menopause symptoms with the use of black cohosh. This natural remedy won’t help everyone but it is worth it to give it a try and see if you are one of the lucky women who can find relief by using this herb.

Vitamin E is one supplement that has been shown to help reduce hot flashes in many women. It can also help promote strong bones and overall good health.

The recommended dosage is 400 – 800 I.U. daily, of course aways consult with your doctor before taking any type of supplement to make sure there aren’t any potentially harmful drug interactions between your vitamins and any prescription drugs you may be taking.

Bone loss is another common problem for women going through menopause so it’s important to take a calcium supplement, usually 1500 mg daily, added to 500- 750 mg magnesium to help improve absorption.

Menopause is no fun for any woman, or her immediate family, but there are vitamins to relieve menopause symptoms. Try to find an effective and natural way to relieve, or at least lessen, your menopausal symptoms.

Should I Use A Dry Skin Care Product

If you suffer from dry skin, it is imperative that you use a dry skin care product. These are specially formulated to deal with the specific issues relating to your skin condition.

Dry skin has very small pores and can be dull, itchy and flaky. Wrinkles and fine lines are more apparent on dry skin than any other type of skin. Sufferers often complain of a dragging or pulling sensation within their skin.

Causes of dry skin vary but it is more common as we age. Hot baths, low humidity, sunshine and soaps, even the gentle ones account for some dry skin conditions. If your parents had dry skin, you are more likely to have it as well.

The key to treating dry skin is to keep it nourished and protected. Avoid heat as much as possible so no more hot showers, baths or saunas. Use a moisturizing liquid and not soap when bathing.

You should see your doctor, if you suddenly start suffering from dry skin and have other symptoms as well such as excessive thirst or tiredness. It can sometimes be an indicator of a more serious health problem.

Not that anyone needs to tell you but smoking is extremely bad for your skin particularly if you already have dry skin. Smoking causes the arteries to narrow which reduces the amount of oxygen and other nutrients that the blood can carry to your organs. Your skin is your largest organ so to regain beautiful skin quit smoking!

Think about your diet. Whilst we would all love to be thin, a starvation diet will cause your skin to shrivel up as it becomes dryer and more prone to wrinkles.

Look for specific dry skin care products. These will contain petrolatum, glycerine, lanolin, vegetable oils etc that will help moisturize the skin from the outside in. Drink plenty of water and green teas to help keep skin hydrated.

Dry skin can sometimes be an indicator that you are low in B vitamins. This is quite common amongst women and easily fixed via diet and/or supplements. Drinking goat’s milk may help. Other good sources of vitamin B are sunflower seeds, wholegrain and yeast.

An apricot mask is a great mask to help clean and soften dry skin. Put two apricots into a blender (take skins off first!), add 1 teaspoon of avocado oil. Blend together and put the resulting mixture on your face for about 15 minutes. Rinse and apply your normal moisturizer. Obviously this would not help those of you who have an allergy to either apricots or avocados.

Another old trick is to put your moisturiser on when your skin is still slightly wet as it will help lock in the moisture. You need to remember to change your dry skin care products every so often as our skin will change over time and may need less or more intensive care. If your skin is still dry and flaky after applying your normal products, it is time to see your dermatologist for some new ideas.

What Oily Skin Treatment Works Best

Oily skin can lead to acne a skin condition most of us would want to avoid. So what oily skin treatment works best?

We want to control the oil produced by our skin but at the same time keep our skin hydrated and protected. It is relatively easy these days to find oil free cosmetic products. We cannot afford to put an oil based product on our skin – it is the equivalent of pouring oil on a flame.

Our hormones play a link in the way our oil production glands work. Your hormones are to blame when being a teenager brings you out in a load of zits. Pregnant women or those facing into the menopause can also suffer from oily skin caused by hormone imbalances. A lack of vitamin B can cause a hormonal imbalance. You can have your doctor check if you suspect this is a problem.

Clay masks work very well with oily skins and will help to reduce and remove any blackheads and pimples you may have. The clay is oil free and as it dries, it goes hard absorbing excess oil. It also seems to reduce the size of your skin pores. It can’t in reality but it looks like it does which is the desired effect.

You need to cleanse your skin daily but try to avoid over washing as this will only cause your skin to become irritated, red and flaky. It is also a good idea to exfoliate your skin using a product containing lactic or glycolic acid but not if you have any inflamed pustules as you will only spread the infection.

Lavender is one oily skin treatment that works very well and is 100% natural. Lavender has been used for centuries as an antiseptic making it ideal for dealing with pimples and other bacterial infections that are common with this skin type. If you make up your own lavender tonic at home be sure to use sterile containers and keep it in the fridge. Some people can react badly to lavender and all other natural products so it is best to do a patch test first.

A slice of tomato is great for getting rid of blackheads and brightening your skin. The fruit acids gently loosen the surface skin cells. Clean your skin with cotton wool and water after 15 minutes. You need to let your skin breath after this treatment so don’t apply moisturizer.

You also need to learn to relax as oily skin can be a sign of too much stress in your life. Find something you like to do to help you unwind such as a massage or facial. Yoga is also a wonderful stress buster.

A number of patients with oily skin tend to skip applying moisturiser. This is not recommended as your skin will become dry and patchy if you do not use an appropriate hydrating cream. Always use suitable products as oily skin treatments if you want to get the best results.

The Bioelements skin care range was developed by professionals for use by professionals. The company claims to be at the cutting edge of research. They appear to put a lot of time and effort into their products and are committed to educating everyone on the benefits of a good skin care routine.

The Bioelements product range will appeal to all those that wish to do their bit to help the environment. Over 80% of the product range is packaged in glass as it is 100% recyclable. They use vegetable ink on their eco-friendly packaging.

The company is also committed to two charities which is always nice to see.

But just how good are the products? The Bioelements range is available to use at home or in a Spa. The website has a handy post code finder to find your local spa if you fancy treating yourself.

All skin types are catered for but they seem to be particularly strong on dealing with anti-aging cosmetics and skin care. They have a very user friendly interface if you wish to adopt the do it yourself route rather than a spa. You simply click your skin type – they have seven different skin types as opposed to the usual four or five.

Once you have chosen your skin type you will be then taken to a screen which is divided into recommendations for every product you would need. They tell you which cleanser to use, the toner, moisturiser, the sunscreen factor you should be using, the overnight cream and finally the exfoliant.

But they haven’t finished with you yet. They then ask you to identify any specific area of concern you may have such as crow’s feet, dark circles, blackheads etc. You name it and it will be listed here but you can only pick three problem areas.

Ticking three, I was then taken to another screen which contained a further five product recommendations. I have to say that the website is extremely informative and it does inspire a feeling of quality. But I struggle with the notion that I actually need eleven different bottles of products to handle my dry skin. I fully admit that I do not pay as much attention to my cosmetic routine as I should but eleven products and we haven’t touched on make up yet!

But to be fair, they also produce kits for every skin type under their “Great Skin in a Box” range.

However, when talking to my girlfriends they were all very impressed with the Bioelements range. One friend who has suffered with acne all her life swears by their oil free sun protector. Other sun protection products caused outbreaks of pimples so she often went without but not any more.

Another friend has used the “Fight Aging Chin to Chest” product with amazing results. She is a typical Irish lady with loads of freckles but she doesnt think they are cute. This product is the only one that has managed to fade them to her satisfaction. Now she wishes they would bring out something to handle her red hair – I suggested a wig!

So I have taken the plunge and booked myself in for a Bioelements facial. After speaking to the girls, I am looking forward to my encounter with the Biochemcial skin care range.

As people with black skin know, one of the major problems they face is the fact that black skin can blemish easily. Scarring due to acne etc can be very noticeable. Black skin care products are formulated to meet the specific needs of this skin.

What you eat and drink will determine what your skin looks like as beautiful skin depends on a healthy diet. You need to eat plenty of fruit and vegetables and drink a lot of water and green tea.

You need to get a good night’s sleep as well. Lack of sleep will cause skin problems such as dark circles under your eyes but it also affects your immune system. If your immune system is compromised you are more likely to suffer from conditions such as Acne etc. Lack of sleep causes dehydration in your skin and you are more likely to get wrinkles.

Almost 80% of American women are lacking one mineral which has a direct affect on their skin and that is calcium. All the faddy diets that suggest you cut out dairy products don’t mention the fact that calcium is vital to the health of your skin. Calcium also keeps your bones strong and one problem associated with weak bones, apart from the risk of injury and paralysis, is sagging skin.

Any form of yo-yo dieting or diets that cut out whole food groups are bad for your skin and your health and best avoided. If you gain and lose weight repeatedly your skin will end up saggy – not the effect you were looking for.

As we know scarring on black skin is generally more noticeable than on white skin. To help your skin fight infection and to control inflammation, try increasing your consumption of vitamin C. Citrus fruits, cantaloupe melon and kiwi fruit are all good natural sources.Try drinking more smoothies. They are an easy way of increasing the quantities of fruit and berries in your diet.

We are creatures of habit which applies to our food consumption as well as our lifestyles. A lot of people who do eat the recommended quantity of fruit and vegetables, eat the same types day in day out. Your skin will benefit if you go for a rainbow effect i.e. choose different types of fruit and vegetables in as wide a range of colours as possible. You could try introducing a new fruit or vegetable every week.

Drinking green tea is good for all skin types as it contains a lot of antioxidants which help fight disease in particular cancer. Oolong tea is particularly good at fighting eczema.

Exercise is also very good for your skin provided you do not over do it. Moderate exercise will improve your circulation. Your blood brings vital nutrients to your skin. Exercise also helps to reduce stress and we all know that too much stress causes worry lines and wrinkles.

Although darker skin has more natural protection against the sun, it can still burn. So make sure your black skin care products contain sunscreens.

The interest in Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) tends to focus mainly on children, which makes information about adult Attention Deficit Disorder symptoms a little bit harder to find.

Although ADD is definitely a hot health concern in today’s society, the disorder was not much heard of when the adult of today was a child decades ago. While many people are now worried about whether their child has ADD or ADHD, we are also realizing that many adults with the disorder have not been examined or diagnosed and have just tried coping with what they believed to be just undesirable personality traits.

So how are adults being diagnosed today? Anyone with children will not be surprised to learn that many are now diagnosing themselves first, after having learned the symptoms to look for in their children. Looking through the list of symptoms, the parent often sees similarities in their own present or past behavior.

The challenges of adult Attention Deficit Disorder symptoms are similar to those of a child’s, although they may be manifested a bit differently. The ADD adult might have trouble sticking to one task or activity or staying organized and probably often procrastinates, just as a child with ADD does. The ADD adult might have a hard time maintaining relationships and controlling their moods, just like an ADD or ADHD child. The main difference between the ADD adult and the ADD child is that the prior typically has more sophisticated coping mechanisms than the latter.

Below is a unique Adult Attention Deficit Disorder self-test. keep in mind that this is not diagnostic but only a source of understanding for the adult trying to determine if he/she has ADD / ADHD.

If more than 10 of the following points fits what you experience on a constant basis, then it is possible that you do have ADD:

- “Thin-skinned” or touchy – with quick or exaggerated responses to real or imagined “insults”
- Frequent mood swings
- Procrastination
- Tendency toward exaggerated outbursts
- Tendency to worry needlessly and endlessly
- Tendency toward being argumentative
- Often overwhelmed by tasks of normal daily living
- An internal sense of anxiety
- Lack of attention to detail
- Impulsive job switches
- Many traffic violations
- Need for high stimulation activities all the time
- Spending way too much time at work to do what others do easily
- Difficulty in keeping an organized work/home environment
- Impulsive spending habits
- Frequent distractions during sex
- Frequently misplace/forget/lose the car keys, purse or wallet or other day-to-day items
- Family history of ADD, mood disorders, learning problems, or substance abuse problems
- Trouble following the proper channels or instructions
- An attitude of “read the directions when all else fails”
- Always late or in a hurry
- Bad financial management and frequent late bills
- Inconsistent work performance
- Chronic sense of underachievement
- Difficulty sustaining friendships or intimate relationships
- Transposing numbers, letters, words
- Addictive personality

Adult Attention Deficit Disorder symptoms can be treated naturally without medications and with the right diet, exercise and lifestyle modifications.
